The Pyramid of the Plumed Serpent was reconstructed in 1909 by Don Leopoldo Batres. The base is
composed of a steep slope and a panel finished off with a bevelled cornice, which represents cut mollusk
shells. Eight very large plumed serpents may be seen on the slope and between their undulattions there
are important personages and a glyph which repeats, 9 Ojo de Repitl, on which there is a symbol for new
fire. There is a series of personages on the panel and in front of them once one can see the place name
from they came. Reportedly, the termple on top of the base had the same shape, but few stones reamin.
In 1993 all of the fill from the base was removed and the first temple was found with its addition. This is
what is seen today.
EN ESPANOL: En 1909 Don Leopoldo Batres reconstruyo la Priamide de la Serpiente Emplumada y lo
dejo tal como lo vemos ahora en el exterior. El basamento esta compuesto por un alto talud y un tablero
rematado por una cornisa biselada que representa caracoles cortados. En el talud se pueden observar 8
enormes serpientes emplumadas y entre sus ondulaciones hay importantes personajes y un glifo que se
repite -9 Ojo de Reptil - sobre el cual hay un simbolo del fuego nuevo. En el tablero hay una serie de
personajes y frente a ellos se observa el toponimo de donde provienen. El templo sobre el basamento
debio ser de la misma forma, pero son pocas las piedras que quedan. En 1993 se retiro todo el relleno
del basamento y se encontro el primer templo y su ampliaclon, que es el que hoy quedo expuesto.
